The Swingset
Okay, why build your own swingset?
It saves money!
You can make it any size you want.
It saves money!
You can convince the kids that your Superdad.
It saves money
So here are some pics!
The posts (8 four by fours with about 600 lbs. of concrete
holding them down)
The alignment and postion was a bit of a problem. I set the first post about where I wanted it and braced it. The others went in with temporary 2x4 bracing. (That's whats in the picture!) This held everything together while the concrete dried.
First platform installed. (Note the happy kids! Hey I'm Superdad
at this point!) I took the temporary 2x4 braces off the bottom
and started attaching 2x6 pieces all over. (Bolted)
I had to get the important stuff up! (10 foot slide, Infant swing
w/o the retaining bar, glider, and belt swing.)
Everything is bolted together. The only screws are for the deck boards, the climbing ladders and the railings.
Okay,
so this is a lousy picture. I'll post a better one when I get it!
However, you can make out the ladder up to the monkey bars on the
right hand side. You might also be able to make out the
additional climbing boards taht I attached on the left side of
the red swing. These serve two purposes. First, you can climb up
them to the top. Second, it prevents a child from walking into
the path of a swing!
