We now have a telescope!

Updates to this telescope!

After much research and debating, this was the 'scope I decided on. I wanted to look mainly at the planets at this point. (And try to figure out both what's up there and how to find it!) So far I believe that it was a wise choise.

So, what have we seen?

Well, we started out with Jupiter. Jupiter was really easy to find and it is great fun looking at the positions of the moons over time.

Then we moved just over a little and took a peek at Saturn. The ring is easily distinguished.

The Seven Sisters (Pleides) was nest. Nice cluster of stars, but it's a little spread out for the eyepieces I currently have.

This was followed by a view of the Orian constellation. It is possible to see the nebula in the sword tip. Pretty neat! Unfortunatly my location suffers from some pretty good light pollution.

Venus was next. It's essentially to bright to see. Also, it's at almost it's furthest point away from us.

Of course let's not forget the moon. I made the mistake of looking at a full moon without filters. Ouch! It's like shining a high power flashlight in your eye. I later looked at a crescent moon and that was much better.

The good news of all this is that we have had a lot of fun and I am now beginning to look into the night skies and actually know what it is I'm looking at!
